Wiz on that Kush & OJ vibe.
Yesterday, September 2nd, Wiz Khalifa teased a new freestyle, “I’ll Be Good,” previewing it through his twitter. Just hours after revealing the teaser, Wiz blessed this Labor Day with the full version.
Following his recently-released “Never Lie” featuring Moneybagg Yo, the “I’m Good” freestyle is a nostalgic offering that sounds like it could’ve been a b-side from the Kush & OJ recordings. From the funky production to Wiz’s staple smooth flow, “I’m Good” paints a sentimental picture while invoking excitement for the Paper Plane captain’s next project — whenever that might be.
Over an eponymous sample from René & Angela, the ‘80s R&B/soul ethos sheppards Wiz through an unencumbered artistic state, desolating barriers and celebrating musical fluidity.
And while it might sound like “Old Wiz,” according to the man himself, that version of the Taylor Gang proprietor never left.
