The Tetrafol, first seen at The Fader, looks and sounds somewhat peculiar. It’s a pyramid shaped device that records and manipulates sounds as you move it around. The instrument, created by enigmatic LA music collective Fol Chen along with Mononome, sounds like a glorified recorder at first. But who knows what it’s capable of in capable, creative hands? After all, The Fader article states it’s open source so you can add your own sounds to it as well. That should open the door for some novel recordings for intrepid producers. Take a look at it in the provided trailer. It’s currently available in a limited run at $110 a pop so you might want to act fast if you’re interested.
