The star-studded telethon just got a little bit bigger.
In the wake of tragedy, it’s understandably easy to get inundated with overwhelming negativity, eclipsing any semblance of positivity. These past few weeks have been tumultuous for America, specifically Houston and South Florida, with the divesting hurricanes. However, for as disastrous as they were and are, their destruction forced people to unite, volunteer, pledge, and donate.
Houston Texan’s star defensive end, J.J. Watt, has raised over $31MM in Hurricane Harvey relief, exceeding his original goal of a relatively pedestrian $200k. Other celebrities have also dipped into their deep pockets to extend a helping hand, including Drake. Now, the Bun-B facilitated telethon has recruited stars from every walk of entertainment to help raise money and awareness—most recently Diddy and Travis Scott.
Adding Diddy and Travis not only directly helps the fund’s bottom line through direct contributions, but also through increased awareness, further facilitating donations to help those desperately in need. Other stars on the bill are: Bieber, Drake, Billy Crystal, Al Pacino, Michael Strahan, and many more. 100% of proceeds will be donated to Harvey and Irma victims.
The telethon will air on 17 networks tonight, September, 12th, including: CBS, NBC, ABC, FOX, MTV, BET, CMT, Bravo, Oxygen, Univision, HBO, Facebook, Twitter and YouTube.
Please watch and contribute.
