The 2016 Konnichiwa successor finally gets its official title.

One of Grime’s most prominent faces, Skepta, has been relatively quiet on the solo front since dropping the well-received Konnichiwa in 2016. While he provided the captivating feature verse for A$AP Rocky’s “Praise Da Lord” off of Flacko’s 2018 Testing and has one 2019 single under his belt, “Wish You Were Here,” the London-bred artist has been playing his cards close to his vest. With a recent announcement yesterday (April 28th), however, he’s intent on changing the record — the new Skepta album is imminent.

Called Ignorance Is Bliss, the fifth studio album from the “Shutdown” artist is set to drop on May 31st, and will be released through Boy Better Know (BBK) records — the authority in Grime music.

And while the next Skepta album has been long-anticipated, it’s undergone various iterations before materializing as Ignorance Is Bliss. Originally announced in 2018, it was first called SkLevel but he decided to change it since that title was an embodiment of last year’s thought pattern. Now that we’re in the new year, Skepta’s new album requires a new name and a new vibe.

On his Instagram a few weeks back, Skepta further elucidated with, “A message to say I love you all, I’ve been working hard and I’m more focused than ever … Changed my album title cos #SkLEVEL is a 2018 pattern. New year, new name. @slowthai album first tho.. see you soon.”

On May 31st, we’ll find out exactly what that new vibe will be with the release of Ignorance Is Bliss.
