Instant classic?
It’s been almost three-years since Danny Brown’s last album, Atrocity Exhibition. The 15-track endeavor was lauded for its fierce originality, resulting in unanimous critical adulation at a 85/100 Metacritic score. However, despite these accolades, Danny has remained relatively quietly musically since this release — both directly and implicitly by withholding information regarding impending album announcements.
Recently, though, Danny delivered incredible news for this next project: it will be executively produced by the Q-Tip.
Towards the end of 2017, Danny broke his silence by saying that his next album would be molded with the help of a legend, but that was all of the information that he revealed. As it typically is, patience is a virtue — this wait is worth it.
U Know What I’m Sayin?, Danny’s next album, is already receiving lofty praise by the select few who’ve heard it. El-P of Run The Jewels tweeted a little while back, “Welp @xdannyxbrownx just played me his new album and even unmixed it’s an instant classic, imho. “True story.”
Now that it’s confirmed that Q-Tip will be playing an integral role in U Know What I’m Sayin?, it seems like we do in fact have an instant classic on our hands.
