The weekend’s around the corner, the sun is shining, and we’ve got a brand new edition of New Music Friday. This week, we’ve got an eclectic slate of releases from diverse artists who all embody certain aspects of hip-hop. From 88rising’s collaborative Head in The Clouds to Buddy’s Harlan & Alondra, this isn’t your typical New Music Friday.
Coming in at 17-tracks, Head in The Clouds boasts an impressive tracklists, predicated on the label’s flagship artists, Rich Brian and Joji, but also includes other rostermates, like NIKI and AUGUST08, as well as BlocBoy JB, Playboi Carti, and more. Harlan & Alondra marks a momentous occasion in the Compton artist’s life: his debut album release. While five of the 12 tracks have been previously released, the remaining seven peel back the curtains on the very layered Buddy.
Joining 88rising and Buddy with releases today are The Internet who returns with Hive Mind, their first album since 2015. A 13-track offering, Hive Mind is a featureless endeavor, allowing The Internet to intimately connect with their fanbase after taking their sabbatical.
