NPR Music’s Tiny Desk Concert series shines a bright spotlight on the biggest stars, on the smallest stage. Through minimally-produced, intimate concerts, NPR enlists a diverse collection of artists to take the tiny desk, tasking them to rely on their pure talents in the unforgiving acoustic setting. Most recent to take challenge is the scorching hot Megan Thee Stallion.
“Now, don’t be scared to get ratchet,” Meg proclaims at the beginning of her performance, as the backing band, Brooklyn-based Phony Ppl, queues up the soundscape medley. Throughout the 25-minute concert, the highly-discussed artist takes fans through some of her biggest hits, including “Hot Girl Summer,” “Freak Nasty,” and “Cash Shit.” And while she might be rapping in a small-scale setting, Meg brings her larger-than-life energy in droves.
With a palpable swagger, the Fever rapper proves that she’s tailor-made for any stage and every moment. The “Hot Girl” movement is still very much underway, and the momentum continues snowballing off the strength of Meg’s authenticity and talent.
