Taking the ’80s pop-inspired single to the dancehall.
When a seminal artist like The Weeknd delivers an impressive body of work like he did with After Hours, not only do the songs themselves carry value, but they facilitate evergreen content. Quickly after the album dropped on March 20th, Abel dropped its deluxe counterpart, which featured the Vapor Wave Remix to “Heartless” featuring Lil Uzi Vert. Now, Major Lazer is getting involved, as he’s come through with a revamped version of “Blinding Lights.”
While the remix certainly retains the original studs of “Blinding Lights,” Major Lazer has breathed new life into the track by lacing it with his staple bouncy style. What was originally an upbeat ‘80s pop-inspired single is now a vibey dancehall hit.
