Rest easy, Mac.
Free Nationals, commonly known as Anderson .Paak’s band, have tapped Kali Uchis for the first posthumous Mac Miller release in “Time.”
An ethereal production that facilitates Uchis’ tranquil vocal floating, the Free Nationals instrumental is rooted in psychedelic funk bass lines and orbited by enchanting guitar riffs. Kali’s buttery singing crescendos into Mac’s equable verse — territory where he consistently excelled during his career, and continues to from beyond — neatly tying together this flowy experience into a comprehensive offering.
Mac’s verse was recorded in 2018, a Free National representative informed Pitchfork. They also told Pitchfork that “Time” will be featured on their upcoming album, slated to drop sometime this year.
