Despite the drama that delayed the results of this week’s record sales, Lupe Fiasco had a good week debuting at #1 on the Billboard Rap Charts, #2 on the Billboard Hip-Hop/R&B Charts and #8 on the Billboard 200.
Lupe’s debut album Food & Liquor sold more 80,000 units in its first week in spite of missing information from a major retail chain that made the SoundScan reports incomplete until Friday.
On the strength of his two singles, “Kick, Push” and “I Gotcha”, Lupe was also nominated for the “Breaking Woodie” award, a Best Emerging Artist award given at the MTVU Woodie Awards 2006. The award show will take place at New York’s Roseland Ballroom on October 25. Look for the show to air on November 2 on MTVU and MTVU.com.
