New York’s Pro Era crew, lead by the lyrically charismatic Joey Bada$$, in some way saved the Big Apple rap scene when they emerged in 2012. A group dedicated to reviving that classic New York sound while progressing the region forward, Pro Era has seen as much individual success as they have group triumphs. But when they do all get together, magic transpires.
Today, three of the members–Joey Bada$$, Kirk Knight, and CJ Fly–have joined forces to lace impressive verses over a fittingly Statik Selektah-produced instrumental, “Know The Rules”. It’s a manifestation of why they group has enjoyed the staying power that they have in the often volatile music industry: with that classic New York edge accented by a youthful exuberance.
The track is part of a special re-release of their classic Peep The Apocalypse tape, “Know The Rules” is included as an unheard cut, commemorating the tape’s six-year anniversary.
