jGerson: My staff picks this week are sort of unordinary for me. Yes, I do have an affinity for underground hip-hop, but I never thought that I would be praising a Lecrae song. I’ve actually been vibing with Lecrae since he caught me off guard on “Live & Let Live,” and he didn’t’ let me down with his latest video, “Church Clothes” which you can view below.
It’s no wonder that cats like Kendrick Lamar and DJ Premier are big upping Christian rap star, who actually admits to smoking weed and sipping the Jesus juice on “Church Clothes.”
Aside from Lecare, I was also pleasantly surprised by Krizz Kaliko’s latest song “Kill Sh*t.” The Tech N9ne protégé enlisted his mentor and Twista to trade-off double-time verses for the lead single from his forthcoming album Kickin’ & Screamin’. I was also feeling the more laidback track, “Aspirations” by Brown Bag AllStar member Koncept. If you’re unfamiliar with Koncept, definitely check him out; he’s got some very insightful lyrics and a good ear for production. Other than that, I have to say Meyhem Lauren’s joint, “Special Effects” featuring Heems from Dac Racist and Action Bronson is pretty fuego, if not for the rhymes then for the blazing Harry Fraud instrumental.
In the non underground category, I’m definitely feeling the new Big Sean/Meek Mill collabo “Burn,” which is set to appear on both Sean and Mill’s new mixtapes.

Serge Fleury: As for me, I have to get back into movie mode. I kind of fell off the map when it came to watching movies, especially since I enjoy the entire movie experience, (previews and all). So one of my staff picks this week is going straight out to The Dark Knight Rises. I’m not much of a comic book reader, but the Batman remakes with Christian Bale cannot be denied. Lookout for that on July 20th.
As for my second pick for this week, I’m going with the ‘Lean Wit It’ joint from my favorite young blood, Meek Mill. At first, I wasn’t too sold on the Philly lyricist, but thank God for the internet. Now it seems that he’s all I really listen to.
It’s pretty much impossible for him ever to spit a whack verse, and that’s what makes him the star of MMG. Not sure if this joint is going to be on Dream Chasers 2, or his debut album, Dreams & Nightmares, but either way this will be in heavy rotation regardless.
Euro_Perez: My picks are light. I’m messing heavy with that A$AP Rocky “Goldie” video because it’s on some stuntin’ sh*t with your team! Like who doesn’t want to win and celebrate with their team in the process? It also helps having naked white b*tches on top of that.
I was messing this whole week with Mayweather/Cotto 24/7 on YouTube – that sh*t was must see online TV. Seeing Mayweather bug out and talk that sh*t and Cotto being that humble killer was ill. Plus 50 adding with colorful commentary is classic stuff.
The G.O.O.D. Music remix to “I Don’t Like” is ill because it’s a car banger that you can play loud as hell and 2 Chainz’ song you can hear turning into a summer anthem playing in every station.
Chief Keef “I Don’t Like” (Remix) ft Kanye West, Pusha T, Big Sean, Jadakiss
J Harmony: It’s been a great week for hip-hop. 2 Chainz’s “No Lie” is sure to be a summer anthem, and the “I Don’t Like” remix is one of the craziest tracks to drop in a minute. We’ve also had our share fare of dope visuals as well. In addition to Rocky’s video for “Goldie”, Kanye also decided to drop the video for “Lost in the World”. Even though the song is well over a year old, the video comes correct from all angles. Similar to his video for “Runaway”, “Lost in the World” is more like a film than your run of the mill music video.
This week also marked the theatrical release of The Avengers. People have been waiting a long time for this one and I think Marvel definitely delivers. The movie does a good job of bringing together the stories from the previous Marvel movies including Iron Man and Captain America. Even if you’re not the biggest fan of the series, you should definitely check out the movie.
