The two speak on his career, evolution, sobriety, and more.
This past Friday, Gucci Mane delivered his 101st project with Woptober II. Yes, you read that right — Gucci is past the triple digit threshold. One of hip-hop’s most impressive stories, both musically and personally, Wop has undergone quite the transformation and rehabilitiation. But throughout it all, one constant has remained: his ability to consistently deliver a quality product. And with such an empowering story comes interesting anecdotes. Recently, Gucci sat down with Charlamagne Tha God for an in-depth interview to expound upon the one-of-a-kind life he’s led.
Although probably most recognized for his post on The Breakfast Club, Charla is no stranger to interviewing artists by himself: he did it with ScHoolboy Q for promoting CrasH Talk; he had a detailed sit down with Kanye last year. While artists might opt for the deeper personal conversation afforded by one-on-one interviews, Wizop didn’t have as much of an option on this one.
For the past few weeks, Gucci has been embroiled in the headlines for his comments about a previous Breakfast Club interview regarding Angela Yee. Claiming that she was “thirsting” for him, Yee denied these allegations vehemently; co-host DJ Envy came to her defense, and got caught in the line of Wop’s fire in the process. As it stands right now, the Woptober magnate isn’t a welcomed guest to The World’s Most Dangerous Morning Show.
But with the advent of social media and internet comes a proliferation of interview outlets — one of which is Charla’s personal YouTube channel, CThaGod.
During their one-hour conversation, Charlamagne and Gucci speak on his storied career, growth as a person, staying sober, and much more.
