So, unless you’ve been living under a rock somewhere you’d ought’a know by now that two of rap’s biggest and baddest current superstars, Drake and Future, are dropping a collaborative project. They’ve only been like, teasing it for a few weeks.
First there was a pretty straightforward tweet (leak) from DJ Skee, writing “Damn 2 people are about to break the internet tomorrow with this mixtape coming out of left field…” which immediately prompted the entire world to assume it’s Drake and Future seeing as they’ve been buddy-buddy for a while now.
But there was an episode prior to the night of the infamous DJ Skee tweet. During a live on-air segment of The Breakfast Club, co-host Angela Yee sorta, kinda spilled the beans on the joint project. During the segment Angela Yee name-dropped both Drake and Future after Charlamagne discussed artists collaborating and shutting down the clubs as a result. “What, when Drake and Future…” Yee said, in response, before both Charlamagne and DJ Envy interrupted her — in an attempt to keep the news from materializing anymore than it already did.
But yes, it is happening as Drake and Future started delivering plenty of subliminal messages (photos of the two hanging out, recording in the studio, and even videos of those sessions) until Drake came out with a Instragram photo of a cluster of diamonds with a caption reading, “WHAT A TIME TO BE ALIVE available at 8pm EST, Sunday on ITunes @future ? @applemusic”
There it is. It’s coming — today, apparently. With a working title of What a Time to Be Alive, this is shaping up to be quite the roll-out. We personally cannot wait to hear what kind of music the two have cooked up during their time together, as they’ve given us “Where Ya At?” earlier in the year — track that’s continuing to climb the charts.
