A very rare honor indeed.
Chance The Rapper is a transcendent talent. Yes, his moniker alludes to his musical acumen, but the Chicago native is much more than just “The Rapper.” Chance is an activist, a father, an actor, a humanitarian — a modern renaissance man, if you will. Streamlining his ranging talents into a uniform medium, Chano will be taking his talents to Saturday Night Live’s decorated stage on October 26th.
While Chance has graced the iconic show before, both as host and musical guest, he’s never performed both posts in the same show — some very exclusive company to be a part of. Drake, Donald Glover, and Queen Latifah are among this rare breed, and in less than two-weeks, Chance will join them.
Announced yesterday, October 13th, through his Instagram, the Coloring Book artist penned a lengthy letter of appreciation and excitement in receiving this distinct honor. It will be a childhood dream come true, a chance to walk in some of his idols’ footsteps, like the aforementioned talents and MC Hammer.
Chance will be the 27th entertainer, across the show’s illustrious 45-season, to perform dual special guest duties.
Be sure to watch Chano continue making history by tuning into SNL on Saturday, October 26th.
