It’s all about communication.
With each passing day, the tragedy of Nipsey Hussle’s untimely passing continues to settle in and take form — a world without Nipsey takes form. A harrowing reality that still doesn’t seem quite real, one of the greatest coping devices is to remember the good times had with the influential magnate, and share them.
Nip’s mourners have been expressing their grief in a variety of ways: The Game has been posting almost daily Nipsey pictures and touching tributes to his IG; Lauren London, his longtime girlfriend and co-parent, has sparingly expressed her sadness and remembrance through social media.
Big Sean, however, has decided to take a slightly different route in expressing his condolences by making a necessary public service announcement on his Instagram.
Interestingly, Sean addressed Nipsey’s alleged murderer, Eric Holder, not necessarily to publicly castigate him, but to use his despicable actions to incite macro consequential change. Sean harps on the importance of communication, how it is the glue that holds together the bindings of life’s book, and how if Holder would’ve communicated with Nipsey, this hardship could’ve been avoided.
Throughout his 2:16 video, Big Sean comes across in a lucid, vulnerable manner, dropping gem after gem. Perhaps most notably, Sean profoundly said, “To the person who murdered Nipsey … and to people who take someone’s life out of impulse … you’re making a permanent solution to a temporary problem.”
Hopefully, those whose rational thinking has been hijacked by impulsivity, they’ll take a beat to collect themselves, organize their thoughts, and heed Big Sean’s message. One breath, one moment, can be the difference between life and death.
We miss you everyday, NIP. Rest in Paradise, King.
