LULU drops next Monday (March 30th).
Hours after sharing LULU’s cover art, tracklist, and release date for their upcoming collab project, Alchemist and Conway The Machine have come through with the lead single, “Shoot Sideways” featuring ScHoolboy Q.
With Alchemist providing a distinctly menacing production, one that captures both Conway and Q’s respective personalities, the two lyricists coagulate to form a gangster raport. Speaking from their separate but equal harrowing pasts, this marriage of Griselda and Top Dawg represents a bicoastal reflection on a joint issue.
On “Shoot Sideways,” Conway handles the verse duties, assigning ScHoolboy hook responsibility; their unique voices — the former having a more gruff, matter-of-fact presence and the latter employing a groovy half-sung, half-rapped icing — complement each other perfectly.
