RIP, X.

XXXtentacion’s untimely passing ripped a hole in the music industry, felt by fans and peers alike. A misunderstood soul with a murky past, X leveraged his adolescent torment to create relatable music and narratives, a place for the troubled to seek refuge.

One of those contemporaries deeply affected by his passing is former collaborator and friend, Craig X, who just released a tribute to his late friend in the “Run It Back” video.

A visual for the recently-dropped track, which features a posthumous X addition, the “Run It Back” video reflects the ominous sonics and concepts explored on the track. Craig invites the viewer to vicariously join him on an armed robbery, showing him and his friends donning ski masks as they load their clips.

After the crew makes off, the JMP-directed video propels us a few decades into the future. The shot re-opens on a gray-haired, wrinkled Craig Xen telling the tale of this experience to a group of kids while sitting beside his deceased friend’s gravesite.
