It’s that time of week again: time to almost unplug from corporate monotony, and shift our thinking to the weekend ahead. And what better way to calibrate that thought process than enjoying an influx of new music with “New Music Friday”? Today, we’ve got a loaded schedule.

One of the more prolific “New Music Fridays” in recent memory, heavy hitters like Tyler, The Creator, DJ Khaled, Megan Thee Stallion, Curren$y and Statik Selektah, and The Wu-Tang Clan have come through with some dope projects.

In perhaps the more interesting 2019 album rollouts, Tyler’s IGOR was originally teased through a leaked Sony Music financial report, showing Tyler’s name on the roster of upcoming releases. From there, Tyler started teasing said project in an idiosyncratic way — through esoteric clips — that confirmed this album not only exists, but fits securely in the mold of Tyler’s eccentricity.

Coming in at 12-tracks, 39-minutes, IGOR is fully written, composed, and arranged by Tyler himself, and can’t quite be pigeonholed to one genre, sounding like a distillation of his previous versions while tapping into new sonic territory.

Joining Tyler on this journey are featured artists Playboi Carti, A$AP Rocky, Kali Uchis, Jerrod Carmichael, Frank Ocean, Santigold, and Kanye West.

Speaking of recruiting preeminent talent, DJ Khaled has come through with his anticipated 11th studio album, Father Of Asahd.

A 15-track endeavor, spanning 45-minutes, Father Of Asahd — in typical Khaled fashion — is an album filled with anthems, featuring a highly eclectic featured artist list, including: 070 Shake, Cardi B, 21 Savage, Lil Wayne, Chris Brown, SZA, J Balvin, Nas, Meek, Hov, Beyoncé, and so many more. Also, perhaps most notably, the new Khaled project features a song with the late Nipsey Hussle, “Higher,” and John Legend; they also shot a video for it — Nip’s last video.

Joining Tyler and Khaled are Curren$y and Statik Selektah on their joint project, Gran Turismo; Megan Thee Stallion has come through with her debut album, Fever; and last, but certainly not least, Wu-Tang has come through with the soundtrack to their new Showtime documentary, Wu-Tang: Of Mics And Men.
