Featuring Drake, Megan Thee Stallion, Mozzy, Lil Baby, and more.
With another week down, DJ Forever Cold is back to clue you in on this week’s hottest drops. And with so many artists — both established stars and hungry newcomers, alike — coming through with heat this week, we’ve applied our expert filter to present you with the most necessary drops for another fire edition of the Forever Cold❄️ playlist.
After breaking the internet last night with his surprise mixtape announcement, Drake is headlining this week’s list with several cuts from his new project, Dark Lane Demo Tapes. Joining Drizzy for the 5/1 Forever Cold❄️ playlist are other perennial stars, including: Megan Thee Stallion featuring Beyoncé, Lil Baby, Mozzy, YG. Peeling the onion of new music back even further, we’ve also included drops from artists on the rise, such as: Wavy Navy Pooh and Baby Plug.
Drake’s Dark Lane Demo Tapes may have not been expected by fans, but the fire yielded shouldn’t be a surprise. The tape is an amalgamation of unofficial releases, leaked snippets, and some new vibes the 6 God felt like teasing; the most anticipated drop has to be the ever elusive “1993” featuring Playboi Carti. Dark Lane Demo Tapes not only serves as a great standalone piece, but it also is an overture for Drizzy’s new album, expected to arrive this summer.
Next up, Megan Thee Stallion’s omnipresent “Savage” received an injection of new life thanks to Beyoncé’s addition. Not only does the Queen sing enchantingly, but she also puts on a clinic with her respectable rhymes. Expect to see the “Savage” (Remix) soundtracking every Gen Zers TikTok upload.
Staying down south, Lil Baby has come through with the deluxe version of his sophomore album, My Turn. The enhanced version features six additional tracks, including a feature from 42 Dugg on the LP’s closer, “We Paid,” which has made this week’s list.
Heading out west, YG has given the first preview for his next album with new single, “Laugh Now Kry Later!,” which features the Bompton legend tackling bouncy production — a far cry from his traditionally employed speaker-rattling beats.
Recently, Quality Control welcomed their newest artist, Wavy Navy Pooh, to their decorated roster. He made his debut with his “Gang Gang” single, and has recently come through with his first official project under QC, MIAMI. The song’s eponymous track has been included on this week’s playlist.
Going back to Atlanta, the quickly-ascending Baby Plug has delivered his new EP, Topic. Released through Epic Records, the eight-track tape continues supplementing his swelling market value, and asserts him as an artist to watch. His tracks “Topic,” “After Dark,” and “Gang Rules” have landed on the list.
Other additions for this week’s Forever Cold❄️ playlist include tracks from Mozzy, Kevin Gates, Lil Tjay, G-Eazy x Zaytoven x Jack Harlow, and more.
