Featuring Cap Gold x Calboy, Pop Smoke x A Boogie, Freddie Gibbs, Duke Deuce, and more.
You know what time it is: time to kiss the workweek goodbye and roll out the red carpet for the weekend. Whether it was a tough five-day span for you or a breezy one, it’s time to rejoice knowing that a two-day respite has arrived. To ensure that you maximize your weekend, DJ Forever Cold is back once again applying his expert filter to this week’s bevy of drops to present to you the 2/26 Forever Cold❄️ playlist.
Today’s list is headlined by: Cap Gold x Calboy, Freddie Gibbs, Bryson Tiller, and Duke Deuce.
Kicking things off with a bang, San Antonio’s quickly-rising Cap Gold has tapped Calboy for the official remix to his breakout “Ride Out” single. Augmenting Cap’s original version, one that deals with the pain that plagues his psyche, Calboy delivers a memorable verse regarding how previous traumas have made him the man he is today. Premiered last night, “Ride Out” (Remix) is already gaining impressive traction, earning two official Spotify playlist placements: Most Necessary and Out the Mud. It’s also proudly made the Forever Cold❄️ playlist.
Next up, Gary, Indiana’s own Freddie Gibbs has returned with another 2021 single, “Winter In America.” The successor to his ScHoolboy Q-assisted “Gang Signs,” Gibbs’ latest effort is part of the Black History Always / Music For the Movement Vol. 2 ensemble project, and explores themes of injustices that Black Americans deal with on a daily basis.
Staying in the midwest, the elusive yet highly in-demand Bryson Tiller has bolstered his ANNIVERSARY album with the deluxe version. Featuring five additional tracks, ANNIVERSARY (DELUXE) is largely a featureless effort, save for Big Sean’s assist on “Still Yours.” His mellowed-out “Losing Focus” has made today’s playlist.
Last, but certainly not least, one of the south’s most exciting burgeoning talents, Duke Deuce, has come through today with his new album, Duke Nukem. Anchored by the “SOLDIERS STEPPIN” single, Duke’s latest project is a testament to his zealous aesthetic and nimble flow. Featuring Lil Keed, Young Dolph, Offset, Mulatto, Foogiano, and A$AP Ferg, Duke Nukem is a testament to the standout Memphis rapper’s ability to attract both preeminent and rising industry talent. The Lil Keed-assisted “BUSY” has been added to today’s playlist. Crank this project to the max.
Other artists to be included in today’s Forever Cold❄️ playlist are: Coi Leray x Yung Bleu, Drakeo The Ruler x Drake, SpotemGottem x DaBaby, Key Glock, Pop Smoke x A Boogie, YG x Big Sean, JID, Noname, DDG x OG Parker x 42 Dugg, and Shordie Shordie x Murda Beatz.
