Featuring the resissue of Drake’s So Far Gone.
While today’s “New Music Friday” features singles from a collection of great artists, we have our first retrospective release thanks to the reissuance of Drake’s groundbreaking mixtape, So Far Gone.
Originally announced a couple of days ago through his touching Instagram tribute, where he thanked all those who helped manifest his music dreams, Drake put So Far Gone on all streaming services for the first time in commemoration of its 10-year-anniversary. From LeBron to Boi1da, and even Kanye, Drake penned personal messages to those who helped a kid from Canada become this generation’s Michael Jackson. As the Jews say, Drake is a real mensch.
Featuring hit nostalgic tracks like the Kanye-produced “Say What’s Real” and “Best I Ever Had”, So Far Gone introduced the world to Drake’s multi-hyphenate rapping-singing abilities, and proved that one doesn’t have to quell their emotions to appease the hip-hop community. Drake course-corrected hip-hop’s preconceived notions of toxic masculinity–a notion that continues today.
Joining Drake on this monumental “New Music Friday” are Nipsey Hussle with the Roddy Ricch and Hit-Boy-assisted “Racks In The Middle”; Cardi B and Bruno Mars with their second collaboration, “Please Me”; Lil West with the Take A Day Trip-produced “Not Sure”; John Legend’s “Preach”; Don Q and A Boogie with “Make Me Wanna”; 2 Chainz linking with Kash Doll on the “Ice Me Out (Remix)”; and lastly, Chicago’s LUCKI has come through with his new project, Freewave 3, featuring CHASETHEMONEY and Earl Sweatshirt.
