Another loaded day for fresh heat.
And just like that, it’s already time for another “New Music Friday.” Today’s loaded edition features drops from Lil Uzi Vert, Smokepurpp, Kaytranada, Free Nationals, Stormzy, and Atmosphere.
Already making the rounds thanks to the baked-in dance challenge, Uzi’s “Futsal Shuffle 2020” is the latest track to capitalize on the popular hip-hop marketing trend of soliciting fan responses. While the status of the long, long-anticipated Eternal Atake still remains uncertain, Uzi has been dropping breadcrumbs of music, which will hopefully lead to the album’s release.
Coming through with the Mike Dean executively-produced Deadstar 2, Smokepurpp has made his official music debut. Despite releasing a collection of successful projects, including the original Deadstar, Purpp can now officially throw his hat into the Rookie of the Year conversation. Deadstar 2 features Denzel Curry, Lil Pump, Trippie Redd, Ty Dolla $ign, Lil Skies, and Moneybagg Yo.
Kaytranada hasn’t dropped an album since his acclaimed 2016 project, 99.9%. Today, that’s all changed, as he’s come through with the 17-track album, BUBBA. On-brand for the ethereal producer, BUBBA is a collection of individualistic styles and sounds, coalescing to create a truly unique soundscape. The Canadain musician recruited the likes of Kali Uchis, Mick Jenkins, SiR, Masego, Pharrell, and more.
Free Nationals, Stormzy and Atmosphere have also come through with new projects on Free Nationals, Heavy Is The Head and Whenever, respectively.
